An Exploration to Gunung Datuk, Rembau [25/3-26/3/2011]

So, here's another awesome-ly delayed post.

Remember I think I almost die climbing Broga Hill last few months? Wait, on a second thought, I think I didn't blog about it here. Oh well~ A little bit about my first attempt to hike a hill, a 390m one, which I think I cannot survive the attempt, most probably because we're rushing to reach to the top for the sunset, and I hardly catch a breath that time.

And I thought WTF???!!! when co-curricular activity is organizing a exploration to Gunung Datuk, for now it's a Gunung (mountain), not a hill. As I searched Google the day before, I almost fainted when I saw it reached till 885m.

25/3, we departed from university early in the morning and reached a typical Malay village in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan. Honestly, being the only Chinese girl in the group makes it difficult for me to mix around and I got pretty bored there. We had some talks as well as a little bit of community service (cleaning and painting an abandoned house for soon-to-be community tuition center).

It was actually my first time getting in touch with a real village community, and yeah differs a lot from a city. The houses are big actually and you can find ample of spaces for yourself in village, unlike in city, you tend to have a limited personal area (just like how I'm `caged' in this room right now). People in village now each other, and they come together to form a jawatankuasa to manage the whole village as well as bringing up its development. Something we couldn't see visibly in a big city like KL. Here, you might not even know your next door neighbor. And villagers are very kind people. They're very kind and provide enough food and drinks for  us.

It was actually my first experience to sleep in a camp (we spent the night at the foothill). It was cool. But I didn't ready with whatever sleeping bag so I utilized whatever I have lah~ But I kinda freaked out lah when you know, the Malays are being cautious about whatever-you-call-it creatures for I didn't really believe their existence and suddenly popped out so many what-ifs. Oh well~ I slept pretty well that night, with some backache sleeping on hard ground. And I remembered calling my Mom (SURPRISINGLY TELECOMMUNICATION LINE ON THE MOUNTAIN WAS FREAKING AWESOME HAHA) and desperately tell her I didn't want to climb the mountain. Well I kinda sound like I will die halfway the next day that it make like a goodbye call HAHAHAHAHA!

I think I was more worry about being sucked by little vampires. Nah, not the mosquito, but the leeches. And hell, I was so freaking genius I came with a thin school socks and a track bottom which is not long enough. Dang~! But things got better than I expected. I climbed and climbed and felt like its so cool to be so adventurous like this. I jumped, I hoped like in kungfu movie (HAHAHAHA!). But serious (LOL!). I got tired, but I did take several breaks to catch up my breath. Gunung Datuk is challenging, far more than Broga Hill as it is very sloppy.

I was very proud of my achievement that day. Instead of dying halfway up the hill, I actually am the first girl to reach to the top. The guys respected me (HAHAHA!) but that's not the main point. You know the feeling you die die also feel you cannot do something but in the end, you prove yourself wrong? That's it! I feel proud of myself and for another time, I conquered myself, my inner cowardly self.

It's really nice to be on top of the hill. Strong wind gushing past,so strong it actually pushes me, felt like taking me away. I saw many greens at the bottom (Bom must have like this!). I wished I could stay up the longer. Simple scenery could make you go awe. Being close to nature makes you reflect many things. You're so near to the cloud! *LIKE*

They told me is Hang Tuah's foot mark there o~

You know what, I still wants to conquer more hills and mountains in the future. Never mind the one week muscle pain. Never mind the sun-burn. Let's make it till Gunung Kinabalu (LOL!).
